Egenes Camping Drift AS is the controller of information we receive through this website. This page explains what we use, why we use it and your choices and rights.
Contacting the controller
Egenes Camping Drift AS, organisation number 986 850 384, Selandsvegen 31, 4407 Flekkefjord, Norway. For questions about privacy or information we hold about you, contact post@egenescamping.no or +47 38 32 01 48.
When you use the website
The web server processes your IP address, the time, the address requested and technical details about your browser, the request and the response. This information is used to deliver the website, resolve errors and protect the service against misuse.
To limit repeated form attempts, the website stores a control value derived from the IP address. Replacing the address with this value does not make the information anonymous. The restriction expires after one minute. The form control does not store the IP address itself, but it may appear in the web server's separate logs.
After a successful submission, a single-use reference displays the confirmation. It contains neither your message nor your contact details. The reference can be used for up to five minutes and is deleted from the form storage when first used successfully. Automatic clean-up is scheduled every five minutes but depends on visits to the website, so expired control values and unused references may remain longer before deletion. This describes form storage, not email, server logs or backups.
Our hosting provider, one.com, also offers server-based traffic statistics from access logs. We have not yet established whether this feature is active on our account or which retention periods apply to its underlying data.
When you send an enquiry
The contact form requires an email address and message; name and subject are optional. The business form requires a company name, email address and description of your requirements. Contact person, telephone, preferred dates and number of people are optional.
Required fields must be completed so that we can receive and answer your enquiry. The form cannot be submitted without them.
We use the information to handle and answer your enquiry, take steps before a possible agreement and follow up relevant business contact. Messages to post@egenescamping.no are received in our Exchange email system. Your message is not published or stored as website content.
Do not include payment details, health information or other sensitive personal information in the form.
When you book
We use BookVisit at online.bookvisit.com for online booking. An availability search continues in the same tab. The link to the full booking overview opens a new window or tab. No BookVisit service loads on the Egenes page before you choose to continue.
When you fill in an availability search, dates, numbers of adults and children and any children's ages you enter are remembered temporarily in your browser tab. This lets you compare accommodation without entering the same details again. The choices are used for up to 30 minutes after your last change. Expired choices are removed the next time the search loads or is used. This storage remembers your search regardless of your analytics choice. Optional analytics is explained below.
When you submit a search, the website checks arrival, departure, accommodation and guest choices. A valid search sends the arrival date, calculated length of stay, language, NOK currency, number of adults and the children's ages entered to BookVisit. Your accommodation category and any selected cabin or apartment type are also sent. Names, contact details and text from enquiry forms are not included.
When you visit BookVisit, the service receives ordinary network information such as your IP address and browser details. Booking information is processed there under the booking service’s terms and privacy information. Both choices – analytics and ad measurement – can be passed on from Egenes, including refusals. The original expiry is kept, up to 90 days. A newer choice already made in BookVisit takes precedence over an older transferred choice.
If you allow analytics, pseudonymous browser and session IDs may be passed to BookVisit to connect your visit with your booking. We do not pass these IDs on without analytics permission. If you allow ad measurement, valid ad-click IDs may be passed on. A valid transferred choice avoids another prompt. Direct visits without a valid choice, or transfers that cannot be verified, will show a prompt. The signed transfer is valid for 90 seconds and is removed from the address on arrival; it contains choices and validity dates, not your name, booking or analytics IDs. BookVisit’s consent interface loads through Google Tag Manager, so Google receives a technical request, including your IP address, before the choice is established. Changing your choice on our website does not automatically change a BookVisit tab already open; use Privacy choices there as well.
Our legal bases for processing
When you ask about prices, availability or an offer before a possible agreement that you would enter into yourself, we use the information needed to answer. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) of the General Data Protection Regulation.
General questions and contact on behalf of a business are processed to answer and follow up the matter. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in this correspondence under Article 6(1)(f). The forms do not sign you up for marketing.
The short-lived form controls limit misuse and display the correct submission confirmation. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure, reliable contact service under Article 6(1)(f). You may request information about the balancing assessment and object to processing based on this interest.
Necessary technical operation and access controls keep the website working and restrict administration to authorised users. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure, stable operation under Article 6(1)(f) of the General Data Protection Regulation.
Optional analytics and ad measurement each rely on your consent under GDPR Article 6(1)(a). You may withdraw either or both choices at any time. The website and booking service also work when you decline.
Cookies and choices
You can decline both purposes, allow analytics only, or allow analytics and ad measurement. The details also let you choose ad measurement only. No optional choice is preselected. A necessary cookie remembers your choice for up to 90 days. An earlier yes to analytics does not become permission for ads: this change asks existing visitors to choose again once. Use Privacy choices at the bottom of the page to change or withdraw your choice. Turning off a purpose already in use stops measurement on the open page. Extra permissions granted after an earlier yes take effect on the next page.
With your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand which channels, campaigns, pages and choices lead to bookings. Measurement covers numbers of adults and children, length-of-stay bands, selected products and booking value with currency. A transaction reference serves as a pseudonymous order key to avoid counting the same purchase twice. We can link that key to the booking. Google also receives technical browser and device information and pseudonymous identifiers.
Ad measurement lets Google process ad-click IDs and limited purchase information to measure whether a Google ad leads to a booking. Purchase signals pass through Google Analytics to our existing Google Ads conversion. With ad measurement only, we do not use analytics cookies or the website’s browsing and form-interaction history; Google Analytics may still process a purchase signal with a transaction reference, items, value in NOK and technical information. We do not use personalised ads, remarketing, Google Signals or uploads of names, email addresses or phone numbers. Names, contact details, free text, children’s ages, exact stay dates and discount codes are not sent in measurement events. With ad measurement, Google may store cookies using the eg_egenes prefix, including eg_egenes_au. These cookies are used for ad measurement and may last up to 90 days. Egenes ad cookies are removed in the current browser when you reject or withdraw this purpose. If you allow ad measurement, we may keep a valid ad-click reference in this browser tab on both our website and the booking service. We may pass it on when you move from our website to booking. On each site, we use the saved reference for no more than four hours after saving it, and stop after 30 minutes without activity or when you withdraw ad measurement. Expired references are removed when the page becomes active or is used again.
Analytics cookies can last for up to two years after their latest update. We have selected 14 months for user and event data in Analytics, with no renewal of the user-data period when there is new activity. Google deletes expired data monthly. Aggregated reports may be kept longer. These periods are separate from your stored consent choice and the booking records themselves.
Google provides the analytics service and may process data with subprocessors outside the EEA, including in the United States. Its data processing terms and international transfer information describe safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.
The separate administrator login uses necessary temporary cookies to check that login works, remember the chosen login language and protect an active session. Password resets use a temporary cookie only for that process. These apply to administration, not ordinary website use, and are not used for analytics or marketing.

Administration and login
The separate administrator login processes a username or email address, password verification and technical security information to give authorised users access. Passwords are not emailed or displayed in readable form.
The password reset process uses the username or email address to send a time-limited reset link if the account can use this function. Failed login attempts give the same general rejection without confirming whether an account exists.
Email, recipients and retention
one.com provides hosting and technical operation. We use Exchange for email and BookVisit for bookings. Access to enquiries is limited to those who need the information to handle the matter.
We delete completed enquiries on an ongoing basis and review this monthly. Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are deleted from ordinary email folders no later than six months after the last relevant contact. Routine practical correspondence about a booking is deleted no later than three months after check-out or cancellation, and earlier when no longer needed.
Necessary contractual and accounting records are kept separately under the requirements that apply to them. For a specific complaint, unpaid amount or dispute, we retain only information needed for the matter and review that need each month.
This deletion routine applies to our ordinary email folders, including Sent and Deleted Items. Exchange may also retain deleted messages for recovery or under retention rules. Any backups follow a separate deletion cycle. The technical time limits for our system have not yet been established.
The website's automatic clean-up applies only to the short-lived form controls described above. It does not delete email, server logs, backups or booking information held by BookVisit.
Your rights
You may request access to information about you, and request correction, deletion or restriction where the relevant conditions are met. The right to data portability applies to information you provided when processing is automated and based on consent or a contract.
You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests. If we rely on consent for an optional service, you may withdraw it without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.
Contact post@egenescamping.no or +47 38 32 01 48 to exercise your rights. You may also complain to Datatilsynet, the Norwegian Data Protection Authority.
