Up from the lake or out towards the sea?
The Simonskyrkja walk starts at Egenes. Knaben, Solås and Raulivannet offer more local choices, while Hågåsen and Li take you towards the coast. Choose the distance and the amount of climbing that suit your group.

The map shows where the walks are; for Li, it marks the starting area at Itland. Follow the UT link beside each walk for the route and elevation profile.

1 · From the campsite
The Simonskyrkja walk starts here
Leave the car at Egenes and climb above Selura. The route rises through steep, stony ground before the trees give way to wider views. Pack drinks and a picnic, and give the summit more time than a quick photograph.
UT grades the route from Egenes as demanding: 4.9 kilometres there and back, with around 2½ hours of walking before breaks. Expect uneven mountain terrain and choose a day when both the conditions and your group are up to it.
Røydland offers another approach to the same summit. UT grades it moderate, with a return distance of 3.6 kilometres and an estimated two hours. The route starts at Røydland; the description explains access from the old schoolhouse at Slåta.
Two walks from Tjersland
The starting point for Knaben and Solås lies near the southern end of Nulandsvika. Both suggested routes begin at Tjersland. UT describes a parking lay-by beside the E39; use its access notes to plan your start.
2 · A shorter walk to Knaben
Knaben near Nuland is the shorter of the two routes. UT gives 2.6 kilometres there and back and around two hours, graded moderate. The short distance does not make it a flat stroll.
3 · Continue to Solås
Choose Solås for a longer walk from the same starting point. UT gives 4.7 kilometres there and back, a moderate grade and around two hours. Its description also explains a possible detour to Knaben.
4 · A local circuit
Around Raulivannet on woodland paths and old tracks
A circular walk keeps the scenery changing all the way back. This route around Raulivannet follows woodland paths and tractor tracks, with a short tarmac stretch through Berglia. It crosses hilly ground around the lake on the outskirts of town.
UT gives 6.8 kilometres, around two hours and a moderate grade. Possible starting points include Rauli/Berglia, Sjåsam and Nygård. Choose one using the route description: this is a walk across varied terrain, not a flat lakeside circuit.

5 · Over to Hidra
Hågåsen: take a break above the sea
On Hågåsen, the view meets the remains of Hitterøy coastal fort. Ruins and information signs make this more than a climb to a viewpoint. Read a little of the history, then sit and look across Kirkehamn and the coast.
The UT route starts in Krågedal and goes via Auland. It is graded easy, with a return distance of 3.7 kilometres and around one hour of walking. Allow extra time for the ferry to Hidra and the journey to the start. You could combine it with a stroll in Kirkehamn.
6 · A longer day towards the coast
Over Kjørsfjell to the old farm at Li
Li lies on the mainland facing Hidra. The former farm is now an unstaffed DNT cabin, reached from Itland via Kjørsfjell and Kleppe. The walk itself fills more of the day here. Bring food and allow time for both the outward and return legs.
For this route, UT gives 4.2 kilometres and around two hours one way, graded moderate. The return is extra. Its description mentions steep sections and incomplete marking from Kjørsfjell; read it before setting out and take the map with you.

Walk into town, take a taxi back?
A walk need not end at a summit. Follow Nulandsvika via Nuland and Trøngsla, then make Flekkefjord's small streets and a meal your destination. The connection on our cycle map can also be walked.
The mapped route is roughly six kilometres to the centre. Allow 1½–2 hours each way, before breaks and walking around town. This is a map-based estimate; your pace and starting point on the campsite affect the time. Some sections follow roads with traffic.
If you would rather not walk both ways, arrange a taxi back to Egenes. Call Flekkefjord og omegn drosjesentral on +47 38 32 32 00 and agree the pick-up and fare directly.

Walking boots today, swimwear tomorrow
There is no need to pack up your holiday for every outing. With Egenes as your base, a day in the hills can be followed by a quieter one beside Selura. If you have reserved a motorhome pitch, the same pitch awaits your return during your booked stay.
