Two full days to explore

Three nights in Flekkefjord

A day in Flekkefjord and a day on Hidra, with the same place by Selura to return to. Two different outings, with no need to repack between them.

Three nights leave two full days between arrival and departure. Settle into Egenes on the first evening, then give each day a different destination. This suggested itinerary assumes you have a car.

Full day 1

Flekkefjord: old wooden houses, new street art

Start among the wooden houses of Hollenderbyen. Follow the signs explaining the neighbourhood, look for street art and leave time for a shop or a meal along the way. Our town guide helps you choose your stops.

If the museum is open, step inside the merchant's house to explore more of the town's history. Otherwise, keep the day outdoors and wander through the centre. There is no need to fill every hour.

Full day 2

Hidra: Kirkehamn and the view from Hågåsen

Choose outward and return sailings on the Kvellandstrand–Launes ferry before leaving Egenes. Start in Kirkehamn, then choose between views and coastal fort history on Hågåsen, or Rasvåg and Fedrenes Minne when the museum is open.

You do not have to do both. A walk among the houses, a climb to the viewpoint or an unhurried museum visit each offers a different way into Hidra's story. Read the walking and visitor information in our Hidra guide before deciding.

An alternative to the Hidra day

Jøssingfjord: houses beneath the rock

If geology and industrial history appeal more than an island visit, spend the second full day in Jøssingfjord. View the houses at Helleren from outside and visit Jøssingfjord Vitenmuseum when it is open.

The museum and Helleren tell two stories of the same landscape: how the rock provided shelter, and how its minerals supported industry.

Prefer a day by the lighthouses?

Swap the island day for Lista or Lindesnes and keep the rest of your stay as it is. Our overview map shows the distances and more places for a full day out.

An apartment between town and island

Unpack on the first evening and leave your bags while you explore. Egenes apartments have their own kitchens and one or two bedrooms. After walking around town or spending a day on Hidra, settle into the living room for the evening.

Try this trip on a spring weekend or over a few days in late summer or early autumn. Plan museum visits around opening hours; streets, harbours and the history along the way also give the days their shape. Accommodation and any museum or activity tickets are booked separately.
